Welcome to Pack 909!
There are several Cub Scout packs in the McKinney area, so we're so glad you found your home here at Pack 909!
The first thing you'll need to do is get connected on my.scouting.org and Scoutbook—the official BSA tools used to manage your Scout’s registration, track advancement, communicate with leaders, and stay up to date on pack activities.
Then, join our private Facebook group for the latest Pack 909-specific updates, upcoming events, and a closer look at the fun in store for our Scouts every week.

Handbooks are also available as free downloads online, but the kids get more from them when they have printed copies.

Bobby Lyle-Billy Gamble Scout Shop

Fairview, TX 75069
Fundraising is a GREAT way to easily cover the costs of Scouting!
We never want family finances to stand in the way of your child becoming a Scout. Financial assistance is also available. If costs (fees, uniforms, activities) are a concern, contact the Treasurer or Committee Chair. No Scout should be excluded due to financial limitations.
Parent Expectations
Cub Scouts is a family program, and parent involvement is essential.
At least one adult per family must participate (parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle, etc.)
No drop-offs — parents are expected to attend all den and pack meetings
Parents are expected to:
Attend committee meetings
Join a subcommittee
Volunteer for leadership roles
We aim to have more volunteers than positions. A strong program depends on shared effort—when families contribute, Scouts benefit.
Safeguarding Youth Training (Required)
All adult volunteers must complete Safeguarding Youth Training. All adults share responsibility for keeping Scouts safe. Key principles:
Two-deep leadership (no one-on-one situations)
Clear reporting process for concerns
Chartered Organization
Pack 909 is chartered by First Christian Church of McKinney, which sponsors and supports the pack. Membership in the church is not required.
Religion in Scouting
Scouting is non-sectarian and open to all families.
Encourages a sense of “Duty to God,” guided by each family’s beliefs
Some general, non-denominational prayers may be included
If you have concerns, please contact pack leadership.
Fundraising
Fundraising helps Scouts contribute to their own Scouting experience.
A portion supports the Pack
A portion is credited to the Scout’s account
Funds can be used for fees, camps, and activities
This helps teach responsibility, goal-setting, and work ethic.
Council and District
Council: Circle Ten (serving Dallas and surrounding areas)
District: Lone Star
